Befriending Your Heart
“The first and most essential thing on the spiritual path is to uncover the natural love of the heart; without that one cannot take a single step on the spiritual path.”
- Swami Sri Yukteswar
How often have we heard these words expressed in different forms. The need to develop unconditional love is at the heart of all spiritual traditions. If this “love” is so natural to our beings, why then do we struggle with it?
In the captivating pages of The Holy Science, Swami Sri Yukteswar described the obstacles that prevent us from uncovering the heart’s natural love as the “meannesses of the heart.” There are eight such obstacles. The meannesses all relate to those things which emphasize and affirm the ego. Once these obstacles are removed, we experience what he describes as “magnanimity of the heart” — great love for people, for life, and for God.
Join us in the transformative workshop, Befriending Your Heart, where we’ll embark on a deeply introspective journey to address and obliterate these meannesses from our hearts once and for all! The 8 meannesses we will bid goodbye to are:
- Hatred
- Shame
- Fear
- Grief
- Condemnation
- Race Prejudice
- Pride of Pedigree
- Narrow Sense of Respectability
